Updating firmware on linksys
At the time of writing the latest version of the firmware was v22.214.171.124 and can be downloaded from Cisco’s website here.I have had a few queries over the last few months as to whether it is possible to upgrade one of these older Linksys branded SLM2008 switches to v126.96.36.199. It has some great features which are generally found in flagship routers. The E2500 has MU-MIMO support which is surprising to see in such a low price.
To demonstrate I took a number of screen shots outlining the upgrade process. For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. The router restarts after the firmware is uploaded and updated. The update process typically takes about three to five minutes. The original versions of this switch (ie: 12 months or so ago) are still branded as Linksys and are running an earlier version of the firmware, v1.0.1.Cisco have since rebranded the switch entirely to Cisco and have released it with an updated version 2.0 of the firmware.
