Designer file not updating asp net
Net Web Application project, then there are chances that you have to face a problem, where the for the wep page stop auto upadating as you add the new controls to the page. Once I fixed that typo, the started updating correctly.
When this happens, it’s really frustrating as you don’t get the error on why it’s not being auto updated. However today was a bad day (that 1% time), where the above solution didn’t worked. Net server tags (have to remove couple of those too), and finally found the issue. But what was frustrating that there was no error for this, instead the just stopped auto updating after that control.
The problem here is that this is difficult to figure out. You see the error – the compiler is missing the controls – but you get no hint as to why the codebehind page is not behing generated.
BTW, if you get the General Exception Failure dialog you may not be completely screwed either.
Close the page in the markup editor or designer, recompile (errors and all) and then try again to Convert to Web Application.
For example: this is a simple toolbar header and it contains an image control.
In the original page there was no id on the Image control. Only it so happens there’s already another control Image1 on the page (why that is is another point of debate for another day ).
